Graduated in University of Uppsala, Sweden and trained at Scripps Clinics, La Jolla, USA, and at The Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Stockholm Branch. His current appointments include Head of the Vascular Biology Division, Director of the Scheele animal facility at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, at Karolinska Institutet. Prof. Eriksson is member of Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet, received the Svedberg Award year 1994 and received The Anniversary Prize from the Swedish Medical Association year 2015. His general research interests are focused on vascular biology and vascular growth factors. The specific current interest is to understand how vascular growth factors are involved in physiological integration of blood vessel functions in tissue metabolism and homeostasis in diabetes and CNS diseases. Prof. Eriksson has published more than 150 papers and have more than 10.000 citations.
